Uzone: The SAIL Program

About Uzone

The Uzone was established in the spring of 2007 as an off-site outreach to the middle and high school youth.  For many years students gathered after school for tutoring, companionship and fun.  The cost was underwritten by Grace Church through mission monies, grants and special offerings.  In 2020 we had to close due to Covid.  Uzone has not reopened as an after school drop in center since that time.  However, we are excited to open our doors once again by partnering with the West Central Education District, making the facility available for students, age 18-22 with disabilities, in the transitional program.  This partnership started with the 2022/2023 school year with Albany schools.  In the 2023/2024 school year Paynesville’s transitional program started using the facility.  Previously Paynesville would send their students to a program in Willmar.  With the 2024/2025  school year the program has expanded and is called SAIL (Skills for Adulthood and Independent Living).- It includes students from Sauk Centre, Albany and Paynesville.  The building is the perfect setting for teaching skills of daily living, job training, as well as offering recreation and leisure activities so they are ready to move onto the next stage, whatever that might be.
